    Food Pantry

    Emergency Food assistance through local pantries and community food distributions. Find the closest pantry or distribution by utilizing the Food Finder tool on Lowcountry Food Bank's website:   https://lowcountryfoodbank.org/find-food/  

    Hours of Operation

    Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. at Azalea Drive location in Charleston.  Local pantries operate independently and establish their own hours.  Use the Food Finder tool on Lowcountry Food Bank's website to find local pantry schedules.

    Intake Procedure

    Volunteer

    Our volunteer activities range from packing and sorting food to assisting with programs and distributions. You must be over the age of 12 to volunteer and be accompanied by an adult if younger than 16. If you are interested in signing up a group to volunteer, please email us at volunteer@lcfbank.org and let us know when you want to volunteer and how many people you anticipate in the group.

    Currently, volunteer opportunities are available through our Charleston and Myrtle Beach Regional Food Centers.

    Charleston Regional Food Center Volunteer Hours: 

    • Tuesday - Thursday 9:00am - 12:00pm or 1:00pm - 3:00pm
    • Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm.
    • The first and third Saturday of every month from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm- subject to change 

    Myrtle Beach Regional Food Center Volunteer Hours:

    Intake Procedure

    Volunteers must create an account through the VolunteerHub link on the Lowcountry Food Bank website.  Find the link and more information at: https://lowcountryfoodbank.org/get-involved/volunteer/.  Once you have an active account, you'll be able to view and sign up for available shifts. You'll also receive emails about new opportunities and other volunteer-related items.

    If you are in need of food, use our pantry locator below to find a food pantry near you. Food assistance is provided by Lowcountry Food Bank agency partners located across our 10-county service area. Please note that partner agencies’ hours may change without notice. Please call before visiting to make sure they are open.

    1. Type in your address or city in the search bar at the top of the window to locate food assistance closest to you.
    2. You may use a search filter to find organizations that are open on the days you prefer.
    3. In the right-hand search results window, you will see organizations providing food assistance.
    4. Click on Hours and Programs to see the days and times the organization has a food distribution or provides additional services.
    5. Click Directions to find the best way to travel from your location.
    6. Click Download if you wish to have a printable version of your search results.
    7. Click More Filters to learn more about additional services the organization provides such as diapers, delivery services, and more.

    You can also receive help in locating a pantry by calling us at (843) 747-8146, ext. 100 or by utilizing the SC United Way 211 Hotline.  Simply dial "2-1-1" from any phone.

Description of Organization

Lowcountry Food Bank serves more than 200,000 people who experience food insecurity every year through our solid relationships with 240+ partner agencies -- a network of food pantries, on-site meal programs, school programs, senior programs, veterans' groups, and shelters. We provide our partners with fresh fruits and vegetables, shelf-stable food, equipment, nutrition materials, and food safety training. 

Volunteer opportunities are also available for a wide range of activities.
