    Caregiver Support

    The Family Caregiver Support Program helps the following: 

    • Unpaid adults caring for someone who is frail disabled (60 or older)
    • Unpaid adults caring for someone wit Alzheimer's disease or related illness
    • Grandparents or relative caregivers (55 or older) raising a child 18 or younger

    State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) 

    Providing up-to-date information on Medicare, supplements and health insurance to older adults, caregivers, and disabled adults.

    Information and Referral

    The agency is responsible for linking older adults, caregivers and disabled adults with needed services. They will assess the needs identified by the caregiver and identify the most appropriate services to meet their request.

    Meals

    The purpose of the program is to provide a nutritious meal to persons age 60 or older, and their spouses of any age, and to provide socialization to reduce isolation. Transportation to Congregate Meal Sites is the Nutrition Program must be approved. To learn more about the program and approval process, please reach out to us at 865.242.9733 or 1.800.343.4036.

    Centers normally operate Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    Meal Delivery

    The purpose of the program is to provide a nutritious meal to persons age 60 or older, and their spouses of any age, and to provide socialization to reduce isolation. The program consists of hot and frozen congregate and home-delivered meals, and is funded through a combination of federal, state and local funding sources. Income is not considered.

Description of Organization

Pickens County County on Aging is a county department that provides programs and services to promote the well-being of aging persons residing in Pickens County, SC. Our purpose is to help persons over the age of 60 in Pickens County maintain their independence, function to the best of their ability, and to inform of resources, activities and opportunities available in the community.

Services include meal opportunities (home-delivered meals and group dining meals) and senior centers. Volunteer opportunities are available each weekday for home delivered meals.  Low and no-cost services are available.
