    Electricity

    Crisis Ministry
    Provides financial assistance with rent evictions, utility disconnections, emergency food, intervention programs for those in chronic crisis to assist them make better life choices to move to family sustainability, emotional, spiritual, and budget counseling, referrals to local agencies for other needs.

    Free Medical Clinic and Pharmacy
    Provides primary medical care for anyone in Greenwood County who cannot afford health insurance and does not qualify for Medicaid. There is an in-house Pharmacy for the patients of the Ministry only. No narcotics are dispensed.

    Dental Services
    Provides a dental clinic through local participating dentists to extract teeth only. Also provides a monthly program of preventative oral health by a volunteer dental hygienist.

    Intake Procedure

    Client in Crisis must call the Ministry and tell us what type of assistance they are in need of. We offer assistance with rent evictions; utility disconnections, emergency food, emotional, spiritual, budget coaching, referrals to community agencies for homelessness, etc. We also offer intervention programs to assist the client move from chronic crisis to self sustainability.

    Patients with no insurance or Medicaid can call the Ministry for hours for new patient eligibility interviews. If approved, the Ministry will become the patient's primary medical home.

    The shelves of the GGUM emergency food pantry are filled throughout the year with non-perishable items.

    Training Programs

    Through a partnership with “The Job Connection” of the local Goodwill Industries, individuals who are unemployed and seeking employment can complete on-line job searches, receive assistance with writing a resume, improving interviewing skills, etc.

Description of Organization

Greater Greenwood United Ministry, established in 1995, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that assists individuals in the community with spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. With the help of a partnership with Christian churches, business, and industries, the Ministry helps individuals move beyond their life or medical crisis to make better life choices that will help them sustain themselves and their families.

We offer a free medical clinic for people without insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. We also offer a monthly mobile Free Medical Clinic for the Saluda area.
