Event Details

This free, virtual training is designed by and for people with disabilities from the community as part of our Ready Together Ambassador program, grant-funded by the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council, and focuses on building confidence, knowledge, and practical skills to prepare for emergencies.

Participants will learn how to create an emergency plan that fits their unique needs, communicate effectively during a crisis, and access resources that support safety and independence.

During this training, participants will learn:

  • How to build a personalized emergency plan based on their disability, home, and community.
  • How to communicate their needs with first responders, neighbors, and support networks.
  • How to stay informed and connected during emergencies.
  • Their rights and available resources related to emergency access and accommodations.

This is a disability community-focused conversation, not just a presentation. Participants will learn from people who know the importance of disability-accessible emergency planning and have lived experience of disability and emergencies.
