Event Details
Intended Participants: Patients who have been implanted with the LVAD (a mechanical circulatory assistance heart pump) and their caregivers; total number of attendees is typically 30 to 50 individuals.
During healthcare coverage open enrollment our goal is to provide education related to government and private insurance options to include Medicare coverage options. For example, some patients with LVAD pursue heart transplants (Prisma Health does not offer heart transplants) and coverage has been a barrier at times.
The Prisma Health Left Ventricular Assist Device (Device) Support Group meets quarterly to provide education, socialization, and support for patients who have been implanted with the LVAD (a mechanical circulatory assistance heart pump) and their caregivers.
