Service Providers

The COMET, officially the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA), is a regional transportation authority formed by Richland County, City of Columbia, and Lexington County by the Central Midlands Council of Governments.
 

The COMET provides transit services on 47 fixed routes, five ReFlex services, vanpool service for commuters, subsidy programs with Uber and Lyft and DART for transportation to grocery stores and at night, ADA complementary paratransit service throughout Richland and portions of Lexington Counties and eight Blue Bike bikeshare stations in Downtown Columbia. The COMET transports approximately 2.2 million passenger trips a year on a fleet of more than 90 buses, vans and trolleys. Transit services are provided under contract with RATP Dev USA, Inc., Enterprise Holdings, Lyft, Uber and Bewegen.

Waccamaw Area Agency on Aging (AAA), exists to provide services and resources to seniors and their caregivers in the Waccamaw Region. The AAA offers the support many senior residents need to continue living comfortable, high-quality lives in their own homes for as long as possible.

Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired South Carolina (ABVI) provides training and resources that empower individuals of all ages who are blind or visually impaired to lead safe, independent and fulfilling lives. 

Antioch Senior Center is geared to providing Senior Citizens of the community and Richland County to enjoy an environment of learning, developing, adjusting, interacting with each other and meeting friends.

The Breathe Easier Club is a monthly group for patients diagnosed with lung cancer, long-term survivors, and family members or friends. Join us for a delicious free lunch or dinner for conversation and information.

Faith Housing Coalition provides preventative services relating to underlying causes of homelessness and assist clients in applying for and receiving such services.

We serve individuals with spinal cord injuries to assist them in finding resources for their needs, questions, and concerns.

Santee-Lynches Area Agency on Aging, serve as a forum of governments, advocating a regional vision through identification of opportunities, effective courses of action, and appropriate resources essential to enable local governments to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter Counties.

A simple, affordable and efficient solution to finding local transportation for people of all ages.  Book rides at the call center toll free, using a desktop or laptop computer, or via the Feonix App on a smartphone.  A one-stop-shop for:

1) Finding available transportation options   2) Scheduling and booking using a preferred mode of transportation   3) paying in advance

Open to people of all ages with a focus on those 50 years and over, and other vulnerable individuals.

Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly designed to provide a variety of services to the frail elderly. By providing all medical care and supportive services, the program is able to offer care and services to seniors with chronic care needs, while encouraging independence at home for as long as possible.

The Elder Abuse Training and Treatment Program offers evidence-based treatment to South Carolinians 50 and up struggling with the effects of trauma. All services are free of charge and are available through telehealth. We are located at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Nursing.

HopeHealth in Aiken is 1 of 3 Infectious Diseases Treatment and Prevention Centers, and is committed to providing infectious diseases services to Aiken, Allendale, and Barnwell Counties. The site opened its doors in 2005 providing case management services to individuals living with HIV, but has since expanded its services to include community education and prevention, as well as Hepatitis C care.

The Aiken team consists of medical case managers, a community management and clinical staff including a nurse and an infectious diseases nurse practitioner.

Provides patients with expert care for pain control and systems management, offers caregivers the opportunity for respite, and furnishes a safe place for patients who may need inpatient hospice care. Hospice & Community Care also offers grief support and education for caregivers, families, and community members.
