The first part is the in-clinic evaluation of physical, cognitive and visual abilities related to vehicle operation and typically lasts 1.5 - 2 hours. If it is found appropriate, the client will then continue to the second part - a road assessment which lasts approximately 1 hour.  By state law, a Prisma Health rehab vehicle must be used for this section.

    Address:

    521 Gibson Road
    Lexington, SC 29072
    United States

    Overview

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department has forged a strong relationship with Project Lifesaver. This partnership allows us to use Project Lifesaver's technology to quickly track and locate individuals who are prone to wander from their homes.  You may contact Sgt. Brandon Miller at 803-785-2565 or email at bmiller@lcsd.sc.gov or you may contact V.A. Officer Tim Parcheta at 803-785-2447 or email at tparcheta@lcsd.sc.gov. There is no charge for this service.

When you enroll your loved one in the program, you will receive a small personal Project Lifesaver transmitter.   This transmitter is worn on the wrist or ankle and emits an individualized tracking signal. If an enrolled Project Lifesaver client goes missing, the caregiver notifies the Department and deputies respond to the wanderer's area. Most clients who wander are found a few miles from home, and search times are reduced from hours and days to minutes. Recovery times for PLI clients average 30 minutes which is a 95 percent less time than standard operations.
