The mission of the SC Respite Coalition is to expand respite opportunities in South Carolina for families of loved ones with special needs.

The Coalition’s goals are to:

• Educate the public and specific groups about the need for respite care.
• Develop strategies to provide and improve respite services for families.
• Provide support for families and providers through coordinated information resources. 

The SC Respite Coalition is the only entity in the state committed to addressing the needs for respite across the lifespan for all persons caring for a child or adult who has special needs. Lead organizations in the development of the Respite Coalition have been Family Connection of SC, Inc., the Center for Disability Resources at the USC School of Medicine, and the Institute for Families in Society at the University of South Carolina.

The South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council is a federally funded program that provides leadership in planning, funding, and implementing initiatives that lead to improved quality of life for people with developmental disabilities and their families through advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change.

We serve individuals with spinal cord injuries to assist them in finding resources for their needs, questions, and concerns.

The Spartanburg Council on Aging, or SCOA for short, holds free weekly group meetings throughout the county. Participants have the opportunity to connect with others, enjoy a variety of activities, learn from quest speakers, and share a meal with friends multiple days a week. Participants may also be eligible for additional services upon assessment by the Appalachian Council of Governments.

Through our StraightAge Institute, we serve the diverse needs of older adults and their caregivers. We are engaged in memory screenings (non-diagnostic) and other community programs. We deliver educational content, training, and resources on various topics to older adults and their networks.

Stride HealthCare® is a home-based care and integrated support services provider that serves people of all ages and stages of life throughout the Upstate of South Carolina . We work closely with participants, families, and other providers to ensure services are coordinated, consistent, and aligned with each person’s lifestyle, health needs, and personal goals—keeping participants supported and in control of their care.

Sumter Senior Services is a non-profit organization designated as the focal point for aging services in Sumter County for programs, services, information and advocacy for older adults. The mission is to provide opportunities for physical, mental, and emotional wellness which support independence and enrich the quality of life for older adults. 

Services include meal opportunities (home-delivered meals and group dining meals) and senior centers.  Low and no-cost services are available.  Volunteer opportunities (AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP) are available each weekday.

The ARK of SC's mission is to provide hope and relief to families living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. This is accomplished through social respite, caregiver support and consultation, community education, and mentoring underserved communities through the Neighborhood Outreach Alzheimer’s Help (NOAH) Project, in Dorchester, Charleston, Berkeley, Orangeburg, and Colleton counties. 

The Palmettos of Charleston provides assisted living and memory care for seniors.

The Blake at Carnes Crossroads provides Assisted Living and Memory Care Services.

The Bradford Group Financial Service Company assists clients with Financial/Legal Counseling.

Adult Day Care center providing care and companionship for older adults who need assistance or supervision during the day. 

The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach is a senior living community offering assisted living apartments, bridge to rediscovery program for seniors with Alzheimer's or related dementias, and respite care (short stays).

Established in 1914 as a private charitable trust, The Crane Fund grants aid to qualifying former employees of Crane Company who are experiencing financial insecurity and are unable to be self-supporting because of age or physical disability. 

The Carolinas Center (TCC) is the association for the hospice and end of life industry throughout North & South Carolina. Since its inception in 1977, TCC has been a powerful advocate and leading voice for the industry. TCC's extensive educational offerings, technical assistance and discipline-specific newsletters are known nationally for their excellence.

The Breathe Easier Club is a monthly group for patients diagnosed with lung cancer, long-term survivors, and family members or friends. Join us for a delicious free lunch or dinner for conversation and information.

The COMET, officially the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA), is a regional transportation authority formed by Richland County, City of Columbia, and Lexington County by the Central Midlands Council of Governments.
 

The COMET provides transit services on 47 fixed routes, five ReFlex services, vanpool service for commuters, subsidy programs with Uber and Lyft and DART for transportation to grocery stores and at night, ADA complementary paratransit service throughout Richland and portions of Lexington Counties and eight Blue Bike bikeshare stations in Downtown Columbia. The COMET transports approximately 2.2 million passenger trips a year on a fleet of more than 90 buses, vans and trolleys. Transit services are provided under contract with RATP Dev USA, Inc., Enterprise Holdings, Lyft, Uber and Bewegen.
